Roger Murphy

Executive Chef

Roger began his career as a short-order cook when he was just 15 years old. Before heading to school, he worked the breakfast shift at a local diner in Bayside, Queens, N.Y. He then worked in various restaurants in Manhattan and Queens before going to culinary school.

Roger graduated from Johnson & Wales Culinary School in 1983. Over the years, he has worked in restaurants all over Garden City and Long Island.

In 1995, Roger moved to Richmond, VA, and became the Executive Chef of Ruth's Chris Steak House, where he met Steve Parry and helped open several new restaurants. After leaving Ruth's Chris, Roger became the Executive Chef of The Old Original Bookbinder's in Philadelphia, PA, a 1,000-seat historic seafood restaurant. He returned to Richmond to open the first Old Original Bookbinder's outside of Philadelphia.

Since 1995, Roger has opened 23 restaurants with Parry Restaurant Group. He has had the privilege of cooking for celebrities and U.S. Presidents. He has won several awards and is one of the top-rated chefs in Virginia.

When he's not working, you can find him fishing with his two sons or enjoying a meal that someone else has prepared.
